Two newly-elected barangay kapitans shot dead

A FORMER Liga ng Barangay president and newly-elected barangay kapitan of Concordia of Burgos town and the newly-elected barangay kapitan of Barangay Sto. Domingo in Sual town were shot and killed two days apart by hitmen riding in tandem.
In Burgos, Santiago Abella, 66, incumbent barangay kagawad and elected as barangay captain last May 14, was shot in Barangay Concordia at around 6:00 a. m on June 4, Monday while tending to his farm.
P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, Pangasinan police director, said Abella was eyeing to become president of the Liga again.
In Sual, Froilan Agbayani alias Molong, 70, newly elected barangay kapitan of Barangay Sto. Domingo was shot dead on June 6, Wednesday, while a meeting with farmers when he was shot dead at around 10:00 a.m.
Mayor Roberto Arcinue, said Agbayani, who was his political ally, was hit in the head and his body. He said Agbayani was his consultant before he filed his candidacy for his comeback as barangay captain.
Agbayani finished his three terms as barangay captain and rested. He ran and won again last May 14 elections.
The Pangasinan Police are still determining the motives behind the two separate killings. (Eva Visperas)
